The Weight of the Keys

By Eric Burch

Behind every locked door, there is a story. Behind every set of keys, there is a correctional officer carrying more than anyone ever sees. The Weight of the Keys is a raw, darkly humorous, and brutally honest memoir from a veteran correctional officer who spent years inside the American prison system. From the chaos of first shifts to the quiet burnout that builds over time, this book pulls no punches about what really happens behind the walls. Through real, unforgettable stories, Eric Burch writes about survival of the job, of the mind, and of the self.
